A very special event occurred on November 2, 2009 at Cornell University's prestigious Laboratory of Ornithology.

An original woodcarving of 2 life-size Yellow Bellied Sapsuckers was unveiled by Floyd in front of an audience of birding dignitaries.

The sculpture will remain on permanent display in the lobby of the visitor's center for all to enjoy. In attendance were the son and daughter and beautiful grand-children and great-grand-children of Dr. Arthur A. Allen, the founder of the Lab and one of this past century's most respected Ornithologists.

The carving was commissioned to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Lab's founding in 1909.
